My first Yamaha was a 1972 RD 350. Bought it in 1974 to commute to college. It was a great little bike. I remember the super narrow power band, but was fun going thru the gears. The brakes weren't the best and would have me guessing at times if I would stop in time. Only had it about a year before it was stolen. So, what was your first Yamaha?

Mine was a 85 rz350 krs, s/n 123456. Bought in tacoma in 1990, rode 101 to la then 10 to phoenix for school that fall. Its somewhere in phoenix, in pieces.

Solid blue. Solid color tank. Not the black white stripe tank Mostly routine maintenance. Fuel seals. Air filters. Needed a few exhaust seals under the seat. Each time I got proactive with maintenance it ended up being more work. So I’m waiting until it tells me what needs to be fixed. Smokes more than I remember but it has been developing over time. Original carb with kits, not a knockoff. Sits for three months and then kicks over second try. These bikes are stout!

This one is the real milestone for of the YAMAHA. I have also used this edition and really love it.

1978 DT175 was my first. Then a looooong line of more Yamahas after that.
Here are a few earlier ones.

1982 750 Virago
1986 Fazer
1992 V-Max

Currently have 6 Yamahas.
