Hey everyone, new to Yamaha, picked up an 87 fz700, and it was perfect when I bought it, started right up, rode amazing, but as soon as I got it home, it started the same way, and now it won't start, I think It might be flooded, but I've had it sitting since yesterday, and it'll sputter, so I know it's getting fuel, possibly jetting? I don't know, I'm not real used to vacuum carbs, much less quad setups, but any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hello everybody, new to Yamaha, got a 87 fz700, and it was wonderful when I got it, fired straight up, rode astonishing, however when I got it home, it began the same way, and presently it would begin, I figure It very well may be overwhelmed, yet I've made them sit since yesterday, and it'll falter, so I realize it's getting fuel, perhaps flying?

I'd check the batteries voltage, mine was sitting around 9, so I went and bought another one, and I haven't had any other issues aside from the vacuum being messed up, but a good guage set and thats all fixed.

I ran mine without turning gas valve back on. Rode bike and didn't realize till stalled from no gas. Never ran good again and just sputtered and barely ran. Gas spu ot over flow on carbs, thats Yamaha great idea. Running dry dropped the floats in carb dow, and at least one stuck there, overfill carb, over flow spu gas all over engine, and when tried start with starting fluid, carb back fired and whole bike went up flames, huge flames. Daughter grabbed hose, discovered starting fluid stays lit with water, floats on top, and made worse at first, but went out.
Point of story, fixed. Never rebuilt a carb, ebay sent me 3 wrong rebuilt kits. Me and youtube took carbs apart. Used new that fit from kits. #10 guitar wire to clean ports, put back together, started first time turn key and runs fantastic. Burns oil and have chage plugs often, additive helps, but screws ip clutch alittle. Runs like a brand new bike. Finsh this season, then sell and get a honda. Give it a try, i never rebuilt a carb, but took whi
