Date set for McLaren appeal hearing.

Sunday, 28th October 2007

McLaren's appeal against the decision not to punish their rivals at the end of the Brazilian Grand Prix will be heard on November 15th.

November 15th will be the day in which this year's turbulent Formula 1 World Championship is set to be resolved after a date was given for the hearing of McLaren's appeal against the decision not to punish teams at the end of the Brazilian Grand Prix.

McLaren are protesting against the decision not to penalise both Williams and BMW drivers after the race when they were found to be using fuel that was outside the temperature regulations.

With Lewis Hamilton having lost out on the Formula 1 title when he finished seventh at Interlagos, the significance of the appeal is that McLaren believe Nico Rosberg, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld should receive a penalty for breaking the rules, one that could promote Hamilton up the order and therefore give him the title.

The FIA's International Court of Appeal will now hear McLaren's case to get the drivers, which also include tenth place Kazuki Nakajima, penalised next month, keeping Kimi Raikkonen's championship win provisional for the time being.

Lewis Hamilton has already stated that he is not keen on winning this year's title in this manner, although McLaren claim they had no choice but to appeal the matter due to the importance of the precedent.
