as the title says i have a 2002 yamaha yz125 bike looks like new except for the back fender (flipped i think).
compression is 120 after 3 kicks
anyway i got a great deal on it guy swears it was running great when he parked it than it just stopped sparking while sitting in his garage over night... humm sounds likely :)sing)also told me he has no money to fix it so he decided to get rid of it cheap, so now its mine.
i stripped it down and found someone tampered with some of the wiring (stripped the black from the stator - looks like it was done for testing) .
i fixed that ( it was near the connector so i wrapped it back up). no spark

i removed the coil and cleaned the grounds and the spade connector for the signal. some rust on ground, not bad but enough. no spark

checked all wires were not shorted or worn through, actually removed it all from zip ties and have it hanging loose now. i unplugged the kill switch, still no spark

changed plugs still no spark.
so what i need to know is what should i be reading on what wires? what resistance should i see on the coil? , how do i check the cdi box? what voltage and where would i measure the voltage on the stator?

good job - I notice there aren't many replies on this (sub)forum.

That's disappointing.

I just bought a 2004 YZ250 (2-cycle) and looking for an active on-line community to ask questions. As this 250 is my first motorcycle.

How's the 125 runnning?
