So I just picked up an 03 r6 today and when you blip the throttle the rpms stay around 4k and don't want to come down. Ease off the clutch and the rpms drop to normal. Come to a stop and rpms will drop to 500 and then die. This is my first yamaha so I'm not familiar at all with these bikes so any help would be appreciated

Have you checked the throttle cable to make sure it moves freely? If you are having a lean condition due to an intake leak it will also cause an erratic idle.

The throttle cable is fine, that was the first thing I thought of. Not sure when the last time the bike had the plugs changed so I did buy some new plugs for it today. Just won't be able to put them on until tomorrow morning. Put a small amount of fuel system cleaner in the tank to see if injectors might have a little crud in them. Will be taking them off soon and replacing

Got it figured out. Put fuel system cleaner in the tank before I filled up and rode until empty. Filled back up again and it's running perfect. Guess the injectors were dirty. Thanks for the help
