I have a somewhat ugly 1998 YZF600R with a salvage title that I love to ride. Only issue is the second gear is all but gone, as is common with these bikes. I also have a clean-titled 1998 FZR600 that isn’t pretty and has had a few parts taken off of it including the peanut covers and fairings.
I’m hoping to find out if it’s easy to pull the motor off of the FZR and put it into the YZF so it’d be a fully functioning bike with all its gears. If it’s easy enough to bolt on, I think it would be worth it. If it takes a lot of time, work, and most importantly, money, it might make more sense to cut my losses and sell both.
Haven’t been able to find anyone who has put a FZR motor into a YZF600R, usually it’s the other way around. Any ideas?
I’ve also heard some people make a 660 motor by slapping the top end of an FZR motor onto the bottom end of a YZF600R motor. Is that a relatively easy thing to do or does it incur a good bit of cost?
Thank you for any help!!
