1988 Virago XV750 front cylinder not running

Hello all,
I have a problem with my XV750. It will start up and seems to be running fine but the front cylinder isn't running at all. The spark plug is firing and it seems to be getting fuel but it just doesn't run. I have read many places that say it could be the Mixture Control Valve and that it can be bypassed but I don't know how to do this. If anyone else can help me out i would much appreciate it.

Thanks
Jake

I'd check the compression in that cylinder first. If you have little or no compression then there is a mechanical problem such as broken cam, worn cam lobe, burnt or stuck valve, broken piston ring amongst a few other things. A compression check should be the first most basic step in determining the health of the cylinder. All the high tech stuff comes later.

I had the same issue. Turned out that my spark plug burned up. Replaced it and she ran nice and smooth.
