Need Advice

I have a '07 Roadstar 1700, I ride it daily and have not had any problems with it until now. When I start the bike now, either in the morning or after work, it sputters, backfires and even dies while going through the gears. It does quit after about 30 minutes of trying to keep it running. I have taken it in twice already and the mechanic has changed the spark plugs and cleaned the carburator and I think changed the fuel filter but it still sputters and backfires. I bought the bike new and it has over 18000 miles on it. Although I don't mind taking it in to be fixed, I don't like to pay someone when it has not been fixed. If there is anyone who has had the same problem or knows how to fix this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

It's a bummer to pay and not get fixed. I do not know the bike but can offer some suggestions. Check timing, ign coils, there should be a lot electronic sensors on this also. Unfortunately they need to be checked too, they relay mesages to the computer. Good luck, keep us posted. sorry could not be more specific. Fairly new bike w/ low miles. Talk to a Yamaha dealer mechanic see what they say.
