Don't they have to have a no purchase necessary option? Otherwise this is a form of gambling isn't it?

you don't have to buy the bottle of pepsi, you can mail them a 2000 word essay on why you feel you should be entered anyhow, and they'll enter you.

Pretty much EVERY contest I've ever seen always has a no purchase necessary option clause and they always list the 3 or 4 States it's illegal to participate in.

Yes, they're a foreign company. However, in order to do business within the US, and specific states, they must abide by certain laws.

Ya pretty sure it's illegal in most states to have a contest like that, but it's definitely more fair, and narrows your odds of winning down.
