Apex overheating again

Hey everyone newbie here. I have 2 2007 Apex's and they both overheat on groomed trails. I've had it back to the dealers several times for the overheating and they informed me that they will overheat unless we drive in deaper snow.. The machine is made for groomed trails are these guys telling the truth?

generally it gets better after some miles, but they are definitely marginally cooled.

Adding a rear heat exchanger off a mountain sled can help a lot.

Also I've found that the Yamaha thermocouples are questionable at best, if you've got an IR thermometer I'd be checking the underhood temps when it's overheating to see what it's actually at for temp. The outside of the block ofcourse will be colder than the coolant but it'll atleast give you an idea.

When hell freezes over, we'll ride there too.

OH, Yamaha won't cover the heat exchanger unless something has changed recently, you can source them in the aftermarket tho. I've had good dealing with MPI and Ekholm on this type of thing. As far as I know tho Ekholm aren't manufacturing heat exchangers at the moment. I know the owner tho, I can get in touch with him and see exactly what the score is.

we had the rear heat exchangers added last year and the $$$$ made me thnk that it was going to fix everything. Well sure enough it started over heating again our first trip back out. Its to the point if you stop and wanna look at your map you have to shut the engine off. if I add water wetter would this help at all? Or do I need to take it to another dealer? Its still under warranty

I'd consider trying another dealer. It could be a jammed thermostat too, but sounds to me like something is deadly wrong. Might be just the probe too.
