97 mountain max 600 shocks

Hey guys, I'm just wondering how to tell for sure if my sled needs some rear shocks. It seems to me that it makes a humming noise as it is being driven, presumably from the track rubbing against the underside of the seat frame. The lugs are also bent backward some, from the same problem I believe. Is it even possible for this to happen? I would hope the machine would bottom out before rubbing on the track, no?

I looked online and saw that for the two shocks it would be about $600, which seems like robbery for an old sled. Are there any other options?

Second, the starter recoil is impeded somehow (I've heard of others with this problem), especially when it's cold. Once the machine warms up it's fine. Anyone know of a fix for this?
