hi mate
the tanks been painted!
heres how the bike looked a few weeks ago
its a little 50mm piaa headlight

I spent 2500 or so on paint and race bodywork, then after was given the carbon bodywork.its worth over 5000us(just 12 sets or so made by HMJ for the JSB race series.built by a Japanese company that makes F1 bodywork)

She's a BEAUTY bro....awesome job!!!!!!

Haven't seen those calipers actually mounted on a bike before. I've seen Red Racing Parts selling them. Very trick looking.

Does the line out of the oil fill run to a reservoir, crankcase or something? Interesting setup.

Paint looks tits too. Great job, bro!

simonkobejapan
11-23-2007, 12:45 AM
thanks!
the line from the crankcase is a breather
the engines pretty high comp now,so figure would help with pressure
the calipers are great.really worth it

What I meant was to match the carbon body, or are you planning to paint the carbon bodywork instead? :)

appreciate the good words
But runs super hot due to the high comp engine, gearing is way too high(should fix that with the 15 tooth front im putting on)and im scared somethings going to come off and kill
me at 260kph!
I really would like a totally stock bike at the moment!
Buts its basically a JSB superbike.Has a 3000 dollar HRC akrapovic system(different from the normal akrapovics.I spent alot of time and cash to make a fan unit that would fit in the space...the headers are so fat that a stock fan wont fit.destroyed an HRC radiator in the process....)

I had the exact same issue....but I found that 1) i never sit in traffic long enough to worry about one and 2) it never seems to get hot enough. She runs around 160 F most of the time, even in the gears on the freeway. I actually thought about taping her up a bit.

Oh....and that means I don't run a cooling fan. :)

Absolutely fookin gorgeous bike Simon :bow

Both the painted & CF bodywork look incredable. all the HRC bits are sweet, love the Beater 24L alloy endurance tank too. The suspension & brakes are very well thought out. Hows the cf bodywork compare to MR's, it looks slightly duller (less gloss), almost dry/matte finish. You'll have to post some dyno numbers when you get it dialled in :yes

Hi Ron
the carbon is very special(retail over 5000us for the fairing and tail)
its better than current moto gp fairings(its made by an F1 supplier to Honda and toyota)and its pre preg

totally different from magical racing.
I agree the bike is a bit much, but just was a project, and i am lucky to have contacts to Honda race teams so can get parts pretty cheaply(or free..)
for the track if i take that bike i will get some Magical racing FRP bodywork.Much cheaper and no worries about crashing etc.But these days dont do much track riding due to time etc
The PIAA light is very very bright!

simonkobejapan
11-24-2007, 12:25 AM
thanks guys!
went for a ride today, but still overheating.Looks like im going to need a different exhaust(the HRC one is too fat for a fan unit,i made one myself but doesnt seem to do much as i cant bend the fan blades to be effective)so will swap for a road exhaust with thinner headers
need to change the head gasket to a thicker one(luckily HRC has 3 thicknesses)and get a stock fan unit
more hassle and kinda bumbed as this projects taken over a year!......

this is the last bike im mucking with..from now i want as stock as possible(sick of spending time and money when i should be riding the bloody think)

wow...Nice Bike man!

What kind of rear Rotors are those??

simonkobejapan
11-24-2007, 04:46 PM
Hahaha!
but if i buy say a ducati 749R its already pretty modded so i dont need to touch anything(except a japanese titanium exhaust, brembo masters...oh shit)
the rotors are by disciccati.very light, fully floating and great feel and control.the calipers are by them too(better than brembo imo.super power and very light touch due to titanium pistons and cool quality

intersting about the k-factory Ron.Ill think about it

no need!
i installed my power commander and the things runs fine now

bike runs awsomely now!

Not a huge fan of pure cf bodywork, but i love seeing mirrors, swingarm, fenders, and bits and pieces in cf. I think painted cf with parts exposed would look nuts though. Be neat to see like 25% cf showing through and 75% painted. Just my persona opinion, but damn it's hard to paint cf when it costs so much LOL

That bike has some badass parts simon :) I love the design of those mirrors. type 4 i believe...look nuts

simonkobejapan
11-29-2007, 01:55 AM
got some Ohlins forks and a new exhaust system heading my way
ill put some stickers on the carbon to break it up,but the stuffs so light its unreal
and the bike is a monster. At least 180hp at the rear wheel with the worked engine and HRC ecu.its unreal........
(the HRC manual says it gains 25HP for just the cams and some porting, and my heads have been skimmed too for higher comp)

gsxcorey
11-29-2007, 06:49 AM
ohlins forks are incredible...slapped them on our k7 and it was very noticeable. Once you go with ohlins you'll never want to go back.

Luckily i didnt pay retail etc for most of it!but yeah, the HRC stuff will be around 10,000 retail (exhaust 3000,gearbox 2000,subframe 800,fairing mount 500,ecu etc300,rad,500cams etc 2000,engine work maybe 1500 or so
But im never doing this kind of modding again.too much hassle and stress

looking foward to riding with ohlins forks,as im going to get back into riding alot again(havent done much for the past 5 years)
But its just a bike, not really that proud of it for some reason......
Wish i could a dyno done, but its hard to find a good dyno tuner etc in japan these days(they arent popular here)

installed the bastards.Go for a spin in the morning
only prob was the bracket for the front fender(i have an old prototype magical racing one and was a bit tricky to mount)
Sure they will be great(the rear shocks make a big difference,so cant wait to try these)hope the weathers fine

Something to be said about bikes with a lot of work to them. While they're beautiful, and expensive, you almost hate to ride them just because of the investment in them. You're bike is really looking good with all the different parts on it, Simon. A little over the top for me, as I like to do minor personalization and ride them as much as possible.

Everyone has their own style, and there's nothing wrong with that. :)

BTW, didn't you also used to have an R1?

simonkobejapan
11-30-2007, 11:17 PM
Bought the forks for riding with!
they are superb.the bike is stable over rough surfaces etc and much nicer under braking. They are a great investment(should have got them earlier, but i blindly believed the showa units were quality(they are like chalk and cheese.OEM and Ohlins)

All my mods(except the swingarm armour and meter cover)are performance enhancements.brakes, suspension, lighter bodywork, better positioned clip ons and rear sets, engine, exhaust power delivery, drive chain, mirrors, lighter higher capacity fuel tank, all stuff that helps the ride i think!(even the line from the oil filler makes a difference with internal pressure and a high comp engine)
Hope i get more chances to ride until it get really cold.......
Havent had an R1 yet.Almost bought a 98 blue model about 7 years ago,but got a TL instead
cheers everyone! Thanks for letting me show mu machine here!

thanks mate
i was pretty screwed, broken pelvis,my talus bone was broken in 2 and was compounded(meaning a big hunk of bone was pushed out of my ankle, lovely white colour!)other ankle broken, hand, and all 4 ligaments on my left leg were totally screwed

i wore this for about 4 months before i could have reconstructive surgery on my knee(got some funny stares!
The ankle was the most werious, and i was very close to being like mick Doohan with his ankle ingury. But luckily i was 27 and healed fast and had some good surgeons(hit and miss in japan)
the TLS is a monster.Wheelbase like an RGV250,and tons of snot.Tanks just a little big for cornering, but great on highways.Chewed through petrol too quickly though.Ill never get another japanese twin as they are too uneconomical(id only get 60km before the low tank light started if i remember

i did my talus to about 4 years ago amongst other injuries, still only have 40% movement in my left ankle, nasty injury, they were contemplating amputating my leg below the knee if it didn't heal properly and my foot died, luckily it didn't, but will have to have my ankle pinned in 1 position in the next 5 - 10 years as the arthritis is a bitch.

awesome tl by the way!

simonkobejapan
12-02-2007, 03:10 PM
cheers!its a miracle my talus bone fuses,as the whole thing was basically pushed out of the ankle,so all veins etc were torn, and the talus has no real blood supply so necrosis was a real posibility.
Its a little difficult to change gears and my ankle will always look nasty due to swelling, messed up cartilage, but im lucky for the time being
Sorry for your troubles mate.sounds terrible.Hope you can ride during the time its being pinned

i was thinking about getting an aftermarket swingarm for the cbr1000,but i might buy a new bike
either a 749R,RC45 or maybe a zx10r(2004 model)or even an R7(this one here)
decide soon i think!
