I have a 1996 yzf 600 I bought thew bike with the wiring harness unplugged so I had to plug it all up. The bikes push button start must of quit working so the old owner wired a push buttom start start to the starter. So here's the problem.... I have power going to the coils (ie a single hot which makes the other 3 hot) I've tried everything. No spark at the plug. I've hooked a running car battery to it and made sure I had 12volts it seems like its not transfering power to the plug wires. the coils have 2 metal things sticking from each side of it.. well on each coil one of these metal fins if you will is grounded to the frame( is this surpose to be like this) I've chased wires with a diagram.. I've c@hecked fuses. I'm not sure how to check omhs but have a guy gunna do that tonight... I've checked the ign switch where the key goes.....another qustion I have is what tells the coils to send fire to the plugs.... the cdi has metal spots showing does this mean its bad. I've even made sure there's mo corresion on anthing that plugs in..

I would def check your cdi box as well as rectifier. Has the bike ran at all before the ghetto button has been put on?
