Hey Guys

I've got a XVS650 and I'm looking at upgrading it. I love the look of the XVS950, and I was just wondering how it compares power wise? Obviously it's got more power, but it is only a little more or is it really noticible?

Thanks guys

I just upgraded from a 650 to a 950. It is still new and I haven't driven it hard as the owners manual says to take it easy for the first 1000 miles. When I discussed this with the dealer he said there was a lot more horsepower simply due to the difference between the drive shaft on the 650 and the belt on the 950. I am really happy with mine but haven't logged a lot of riding hours to answer your question about the horsepower. It is really a great bike and runs and handles great. I am a happy 950 owner.

I have a quick question for anyone out there who is well versed with Yamaha 650's. I have a 2004 yamaha v star silverado. The pinion and the ring in the final drive assembly went out and totally stripped out. The pinion is the only part in the entire assembly you cant buy. The make you order the entire final drive assy. The price for that unit is pretty expensive. Ive seen it on the net for $600 to $1000.00. I read in some forum that the pinion from a 535 Virago will fit the unit and work without the big price tag? Has anyone else had this issue and if so how did you resolve it? In addition while troubleshooting this issue I opened the crankcase and removed my clutch plates. I had to move in the middle of the repair and they got out of order. Does anyone know how to determine the proper order and orientation for installing the clutch plates.
