i have a 58reg yzf r6,recently had new tires,opened her up to abt 80mph changing up to 3rd and the chain snapped,the bike has only done 4500 miles,luckly it didnt lock up just tore my arse end to bits,would anybody like to say whether the chain needed replacing???

That is low miles. Since you just had the tires changed, were the axles lined up evenly? Just a thought, not sure about this model.

There is no way an '08 R6 chain would need replacing at that mileage. You should easily have gotten another 5-10k outta it with no issues. Could be a chain defect (possible, but not likely) or it was binding/too tight. Outside of that I don't know why it would do that.

uhhh heres question of the day.....did a dealer change the tire with the bike there or did you just take the rim in? if you took the bike to them and they didnd adjust the cain prpoperly thenya might want to call a lywer??? just sayin

if you bought new go back to dealer explain issue, say it had that mileage and snapped, may be woth a pop
