So are you all healed up now?

RiderChick
11-20-2007, 08:55 PM
yeah for the most part... all the road rash has just turned into ugly scars... and i'm just now able to bend my knee all the way. my back and knee both give me problems every now and then if i do too much sitting or whatever but the whole thing just got settled today!!! :D

Firehawk
11-20-2007, 09:08 PM
wow....i didn't realize your crash was so bad.

you get the settlement you were looking for?

RiderChick
11-20-2007, 09:11 PM
i wasn't looking for a lot... at first they offered me 2 grand so i told them to go pack sand while i talk to a lawyer (which was bs :lol) i just thought that after the bs i went through 2 grand was a low blow...then 20 minutes later they called me back and offered 7400 sooooo i took it :) it will get me the new 250 and put a nice little dent in my car loan

How long ago was your accident, and how serious was your injuries?

BTW, welcome.

happened 2 months ago yesterday actually so it didn't take long at all. i had some pretty nasty road rash on my hips from where my jacket lifted up, a gash in my knee, you could see the bone it was kind of funny squishing it around and grossing people out hahahaha so i got stitches on that... i'm just now able to bend it all the way back cuz i hit it pretty hard apparently... and i hurt my back, the xrays showed no damage but it hurt like a bitch!!! oh and they though i had internal bleeding but they scanned my cat and it was probably just from hitting the bars or something

ya.....was wondering how much your hospital bills have been to this point....will that cover it?

well the hospital bill alone was $10,660.63... then the ER doctors bill was about $1,500...Ambo was about $800

all of the bills got directly sent to the girls insurance company. the total check they are cashing out is $20,800. I'll have about 8 grand to myself, then they are going to include all my damaged gear, time off work, money spent on meds and all that other stuff

R1Lover
11-20-2007, 09:22 PM

Speaking from personal experience, I wouldn't have cashed out so quickly. They waited a year before offering a settlement, and I was a dumbass and took it. However, looking back, I should've done thing differently as some complications didn't show up until I started returning to "normal" stuff for me.

Hopefully you don't have any lingering issues. Your injuries might only be soft tissue, which is what mine were as well, but if you've damaged any kind of tendon/ligament/connective tissue, it can take more than a year to fully heal. Then, another year to find out what you have for lingering problems.

well most of my pains are gone and keep slowly fading as time goes on. the docs said there's no permanent damage just give it some time. i wasn't lookin to get rich off of them, i just wanted my stuff covered and enough for a new bike and new gear :)

again, if i would have had time to, i would have. i could have gone left and hit oncoming traffic, or gone right and still hit the car since she made a left in front of me coming from the opposite way. so i laid it down which only gave me 4 stitches and some road rash. the bike is rapairable... it could have been a broken neck and other broken bones and my bike in pieces... so i think that i made a smart decision in the very little time i had to react.

Anyway i'll stop bugging you with my questions but maybe you should take a little class or a friend of you teach you how to react in emergency cases ?! yeah there are brakes. and just a little fyi, the brakes on the '07 250 SUCK which is something they fixed for the '08... a little more fyi... i have taken a class, and i have my motorcycle license. she decided to turn right when i hit the crosswalk. the only thing i could do was lay it down, or hit the car. and in case you haven't taken a class... they told me when you get in a situation where trying to swerve that quickly and abruptly it's probably going to go down anyways so you might as well lay it down the right way to avoid more damage and pain.

next question.

1st of : Calm down please, I was simply asking a question.
2nd : I know brakes suck on some bikes but when i do ride one in this case i try to ride a little slower since i know i won't have the bracking capacity to stop quickly on an emergency case.
3rd : I've taken a motorcycle riding class (what you guys call MSF) back in 2002 and have my driver lisence aswell, took a fast riding school class in 2006 and could have my racer lisence.
4th : I don't remember ANYTIME, ANYONE in my life or riding career for that matter, telling me i'd better lay the bike down. I always ride a way i have an option if something ever happends, braking, swerving, slow down to let it happend in front and keep going, honk, change lane (you're on a motorcycle, riding on the yellow lane in the middle of the road is dangerous but much less when riding on it for 100feet to avoid laying the bike down or hitting a car)
5th : If they teach you "how to lay your bike" in these base class, you might aswell want to change school IMHO.

1st...i'm calm.
2nd...i was going the speed limit, and it's not like i was riding like an ignorant fool. i look out for cars. she was stopped and turned at the very last second.
3rd....uhhh...sweet?
4th....i didn't say they TOLD me to lay it down. they said it's probably going to go down when you're going 45 and someone pulls out in front of you and you have no time to react.
5th... again, they didnt' TEACH me to lay it down. they said it was probably going to go down.
and let me add a 6th.... like i said before, i had that bike for 3 weeks, sorry i haven't taken several classes and know EVERYTHING there is to know about riding.
and finally and in conclusion.... 7th.... not all of us are the best riders in the world like some people :horse

just curious is all....i was in an accident well....3 and people asked me about it... plus im not a member of sbf so i didnt hear about it.....:nowhine
