I'm trying to find out some info on the OEM Rear Shock Spring. I'm in the process of setting up the bike for racing, and wanted to set the static sag etc before I start messing around with the suspension and changing it further for the track.

My Question: is the 06/07 R6 rear spring a progressive spring, or a single rate?

Main reason I ask, is that if its progressive, I'll probably change it out. Three different mechanics that do good work on these R6's locally have different responses, and to date, none of them have tested them and just changed them out as most people have done major work on their suspension. The OEM spring weights (front and rear) are correct for my body weight, and if I don't need to spend the money, I'd prefer to put it towards something else........

I am not a Suspension Guru, but to answer you question the rear spring is not progressive. Look at the coils on your spring. If they are all spaced equally then it is not progressive. If it was progressive then the coils would wrap tighter towards the bottom.

Some people may consider it Progressive since the linkage is adjustable and changes your geometry. Like R1Lover said, I would speak with someone that works on suspension for a living. If your going racing, you will want someone to set it up for you the first time anyway then keep good notes and make small adjustments to fine tune it to your liking.

Good luck at the track

Ride safe.
