i hate these things ever since they started shows like OCC and bullshit billy lane shit on discovery. a bunch of homos show up at the shows and crowd the place and fuck it up for people who actually ride.

So right when we walked in the door, there was the Kawi display. The wife totally lit up with excitement.

Roger's AMA SS bike:
3409

Someone got a little giddy when she sat on the new 250 green machine.
3410

Over at the Yamaha camp, we had an M1 (rusty rear rotor and all):
34113412

...and yet another chance for me to remember how much I want one of these:
3413

I like the new blue on this year's FZ6.
3414

A couple old Ducatis (marked "his and hers"):
3415

The Chicago Norton Owners Club was there, with a whole load of old Nortons, a couple BSAs and a Triumph or two. A couple of those...

1952 Norton ES2 500 Single:
3416

1970 BSA 441 Victor Special:
3417

...and across the aisle from them was this '59 Moto Guzzi Falcone 500:

Suzuki had a Spies bike there:
3419

...and on to the Ducati display....
3420

The Stoner GP bike was *not* there, as it had been at previous stops. I asked one of the guys at the booth about it, and he said the Bridgestone guys from the auto show came and got it to take it over there for the day. :( I asked about it being built from crash bikes anyway, to which he actually responded it wasn't......the bike they've been displaying is actually a 3-4 year old Capirossi bike, re-painted for this year's colors and Stoner's number. :lol I kinda wondered about whether it was really a '07 bike, given a few of the pics I'd seen from other shows....and there you have it. :)

They had a 1098R on display, though. Pretty cool.

There was a display of a bunch of land speed record bikes. I took photos of the write-ups on the display (linked in each description below so the watermark doesn't obscure any of the print):

Joe Petrali's bike (write-up (http://www.shagz.net/pub/2008motoshow/DSC01190.JPG)):
3423

"CAL" machine (write-up (http://www.shagz.net/pub/2008motoshow/DSC01191.JPG) / sign by bike (http://www.shagz.net/pub/2008motoshow/DSC01186.JPG)):
3424

Leo Payne's Turnip Eater:
3425

...and Tramp III:
3426
(write-up on Payne's bikes part 1 (http://www.shagz.net/pub/2008motoshow/DSC01192.JPG) and part 2 (http://www.shagz.net/pub/2008motoshow/DSC01193.JPG))

...and the Seven (write-up on bottom (http://www.shagz.net/pub/2008motoshow/DSC01193.JPG))

There was a pretty slick looking Vmax entered in some custom cruiser voting:
343134323433

...and I normally don't get into the blinged-out sportbikes, but you've gotta respect the skill it took to do the airbrushing on this R1.
34343435
This was the *only* bike in the custom sportbike voting that wasn't a stretched/lowered/chromed 'busa or ZX-14 (:puke):

Pic whoring over.

A few notes:

The new Ninja 250 looks pretty spiffy. Feels like it'd be a fun little ride, too.
CBR 1k is even fuglier in person.
So is the ZX-10.
The Busa still looks like a beached whale.
Sat on a Hyosung 250 out of curiosity, and it felt like it was about as heavy as most 600's/1000's....and it seemed like the tank was really long. I felt like I was stretching a bit to get my arms to the handgrips.
I still want an R1 for my next bike.
