hey i just got a 2000 yamaha yz250 never owned one before just wondering if there is anything i should know about gas mixture, aftermarket parts etc... also i need to replace the front sprocket was wondering what would be the best size to go with and if i change the size do i need to change the rear sprocket or how that works?:dunno

Oil to fuel mixture I think is 30:1 or 32:1
That's 4 oz. two stroke oil to 1 gal. fuel.
Sprokets....stock would be 14 tooth front and 50 tooth rear.

Hey Everyone,
Yamaha had a recalled throttle assembly piece for 96-01 YZ's. read here:

I would encourage you to make sure that you have the updated part or just replace the whole assembly if you bought the bike used and don't know the history. From first hand experience this can hurt you. IMHO, Yamaha has not done enough to publish/remedy this.

i run a yz 250 '02. ive been running a mixture of 40:1 for 8 years this is the best mixture that will not foul your plugs. nothin wrong with running rich but youll be changin plugs like crazy. but that is a great bike ive never had a problem with mine. crazzzy fast. run a 52 tooth rear sprok for more bottom power.
