in the mountain segment 800's are most popular. Out here in the flatlands everyone is bitching about insurance costs and getting girly 600's. At the moment Arctic Cat are the only ones making a 2-stroke 1000. The yamaha's are mostly 1000's or bigger but they're 4-stroke, not competative at all.

Do you NEED a turbo? no, but it's sure nice. Makes for some power:weight ratios that'd put a MotoGP bike to shame if you've got good quality fuel.

The record was just broken last Friday night actually, saw 560 out of one of the turbo motors, it was a 4 cylinder tho so I don't really count it as "real" the 530 set-up on the twin would crush the 560 setup on the 4 cylinder just on account of the weight difference.

:oh jesus christ whats the power band on a 2 stroke 1000cc like? toss you off the back and cartwheel for a 100 yards? (meters to you eh :rofl)

my really good friend had me ride his super fast super trick sled.

I got to 100mph fast and kept it pinned noticed the woods and trees a comin so I hit the brakes and nothing happened LOL.
scared the fsnit out of me .
after that I got a chance to spend a whole weekend on a much faster sled and learned how the brakes work.

I just thought it would stop on a dime with all that surface area on the track and honestly didn't see how fast I was going through the grey tunnel I was riding in . :lol

sleds are fast as hell And if I lived in a lake effect zone again I could see owning one .

the ones that jump and are a bit lighter are way more fun IMO

Actually the powerband is pretty smooth, especially on the big cube motors. Some of 'em you've got trouble seeing the handlebars at idle 'cause they shake so bad, but sharp power isn't really one of the problems. You feel the effect of the CVT more than anything, one that's clutched harsh will be like being fired out of a cannon yea.

Mac, yea I hear ya. Carving up nice flat trails is lots of fun but bombing up a ditchrow is too. Fortunatly they're finally getting to a point where the new snocross ones are atleast as fast or faster than the big triples were earlier, still don't handle as well 'cause they're so high but lower 'em a bit and you're good to go. Can't beat lake effect for making you "sick" for work.
