I dont remember where I got this, but wondering if anyone can tell me if its good advice or if there are any potential pitfalls with implementing it.

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

I have never tried it... shagz may know more about this. I do know that making 30 request on a web server at once is not ideal though.... lol

It shouldn't cause any problems on either end.

Using Windows' ability to prefetch and loads programs faster; notably America Online as proven in my AOL guide, it works well for Firefox. I recommend clearing the Prefetch folder though because it can get messy. This trick forces Prefetching for the shortcut. To do it, just edit the Shortcut to Firefox and add/prefetch:1 to the end of it, so it looks like the result below:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" /prefetch:1

Prevent Firefox from hogging Memory
I've noticed how firefox occaisionally gets bloated from going through several beefy sites, and it holds the cache in memory instead of disk. Well, since firefox has excellent management for memory vs. disk caching, just set the limit and its more stable and cleaner running.

Set the value of browser.cache.memory.capacity to "32768". * This number is in bytes, so 32768 is equivalent to 32MB. I made mine 40MB (since I usually have several tabs open). Play with it to find your groove.
