: 07-08 Yamaha R1 computers and O2 sensor
skipper06 03-26-2008, 04:58 PM so what are you running in your bike?
im looking into all my options but something tells me that everyone here is running the PCM III usb.
here are the options
1. YEC computer (i believe multiple tunning and very aggresive)
2. Bazzaz performance (quick shifter, comp mapping, traction control)
3. PCM III usb (comp mapping)
1. is alot of money but in some what willing to pay for it, but i dont know how tunning is going to be. is a YEC part so its got to be somewhat complicated.
2. they are not even released yet but they will. at the same time i dont know if i want to be the first one out there to try it out when my purpose is not just riding but racing. any problems in the track and there goes my weekend.
3. i've owned one before but i dont know if is the best thing out there.

whats with the O2 sensor what do you guys do with it, does the full exhaust gets rid of it or what??
syncitizen 03-26-2008, 05:08 PM I dont use the o2 sensor with my PCIII. As far as I would guess at least the last two options would override that sensor rendering it useless anyways. Whatever the deal is with it, I've never had an error code or problem without using the sensor.
I'm running akra y-pipe and slipons.

riley42 03-26-2008, 05:29 PM PCIII usb with 02 sensor installed.
R1Lover 03-26-2008, 06:09 PM EVOII with no sensor and PCIII here, runs better then expected. :)
R1Lover 03-26-2008, 06:11 PM Also the EVOII system you can run with the sensor or without... Dan Kyle from Kyle Racing suggested to remove it as it doesn't really do much other then very small adjustments at cruising speeds only. :)

very small adjustments at crusing speeds so how about for me that ill be crusing at 14k rpms :lol
and also by disconecting the o2 did you get a code. or those the PCM gets rid of that code.

skipper06 03-26-2008, 07:13 PM good thanks guys
Junior 03-26-2008, 07:56 PM I'd go with the bazzaz unit to be honest. He's no stranger to this type of shit, can generate you a map. IF you're worried about reliability (I wouldn't be, Bazzaz won Mladin MANY championships) then keep the stock box, if push comes to shove, slap the stocker back in there and rock and roll.
I would avoid YEC shit. I've dealt with them in the past, and it honestly tends to be stock shit with a different curve. Altho that's 8 years ago now that I was dealing with them, maybe it's changed some. I definitely wouldn't say "because it's YEC it's gotta be advanced." that's just a marketing ploy that they use.
R1Lover 03-26-2008, 09:17 PM No codes with the 02 sensor removed. :)

im leaning towards the bazzaz but they dont have a unit in production yet so thats hard to come by :lol
maybe in about 2-3 weeks they will have one as ron said.
R1 MASTER 03-27-2008, 06:06 AM Bazzaz Z-FI if it ever shows up. They are on backorder at this time, and I did not pre-order which is what I should have done to get the first shipment that went out. :rant
Make sure you purchase the Z-AFM, so you can do all of your own tuning.
Ride safe.
