:(

Did you do an online install or an offline install?

Also, for your fresh installation, you should slipstream your XP installation files with SP2 first, this way your XP will be SP2 right away.

Got it covered.... now. Just a pain in the ass. I laughed at the first "warning" message I got (one or more of your devices may be unstable) the list included everything from video adapter to mouse driver. It wasnt joking. By the 3rd reboot nothing worked. Lost mouse/keyboard/video. I was actually surprised that it blew the drivers out so bad that the basic devices wouldnt work even in safe mode. :( and then it only got worse from there... ending up at the BSOD.
Even though I have worked on computers for a living for many years, I still lack on doing backups. Oops.
I pretty much ending up wiping the windows directory and doing the reinstall. Luckily I save very little to that directory due to having my own organizational structure so I lost very little actual data.

Damn, pretty amazing you got it boot up again, most of the time it is very hard to recover when you get a BSOD like that. If I were, I'd consider doing a fresh install in the near future before it fails again.

You should have tried the SP3 beta... :crash

Actually, I've a XP installation disc with SP3 slipstreamed, didn't try it yet though... :mrgreen
