Two questions:
1)How do I tell what year an R6 engine is? Its an 03-05
2)Does a tachometer display the number of miles the tach has traveled or the miles on the engine? ie if an engine is swopped into a bike, will the tach read the bikes miles or the new engine's miles?
Thanks in advance for the help.

1)serial number on the motor should be able to tell you. IIRC they have the vin stamped on them, the 10th digit is the one you're after.

2)bikes miles.

There's a serial number stamped on the engine. You can take that number to a dealer and they can tell you what year it is. You can also do it online possibly, or call a shop.

A tachometer only shows the RPM's of an engine when it runs. An odometer is what shows/records the miles a vehicle has traveled.
