when i take off hard acceleration the ski shakes a little and the rpms seem to go up but the ski feels like its lagging then all of the sudden the ski takes off. i think this maybe cavitation does that sound about right? the ski does have a pump seal kit but not a intake grate yet which i plan on doing in the the spring before i put it back in the water. but could this be something else causing this.

Check your prop for damage, you may have something caught in your pump or some slight damage to your prop.. :)

Let us know.. if that's not it then there are a few other things it could be, but that is the most common. well i check the prop and the clearance of the prop to the wear ring and it seams to all be okay. im wondering if a riva or r&d intake grate wont solve the problem because it still has the stock grate and that seems to be a lot more restrictive then the after market grates.

Does this happen in smooth water as well as rough?

no its a 2002 gpr 800 i got it about 2 weeks ago. i know the 1300 its an issue i just didnt think the 800 had the power to do it. i have only rode it twice. ill have to wait till i go back to va in a few weeks and maybe take it apart im sorta busy with work right now and possibly another toy in the near future.

When I had my GPR I had to install a new Impeller to fix that. Buy the Solas stainless impeller that is recommended for your use. You will not be disappointed. They are not that hard to install. Also at the same time get the intake grate for it, if it cant get enough water then it cant give thrust. Any help needed let me know. Ebay is great for impellers, just make sure it is new, you cant really resurface them like a prop due to clearance in the pump.

I run Solas as well, they are great props. :) and yes it looks like this is the issue, the power really has nothing to do with it, even a low powered machine will do this with a bent or out of balance prop.

i put a R&D 800 intake grate on the ski much better now i still get a little but no where near what i felt before

replace the impeller with a Solas, and you will notice a world of difference.
