: Gilles VCR Rear set problem...

Hi Guys,

I finally got around to fitting the Gilles VCR Rear sets I bought for a steal of Motomummy (shameless plug for Corey there :P) but have suddenly hit a bit of a snag.

The right side (break) went on fine, no problems what-so-ever.

The left side (gears) I just can't seem to work out. Where/how the hell do I fit the adapter that holds the actual shift lever?
It says to loosen the Engine bolt and fit it into the adapter from the right side... :dunno

The instructions are pretty average and I can't find a howto in google.

Any help greatly appreciated! :bow

The bolt actually goes all the way through from one side to the other bro. :fact

Let me guess....you turn and turn and all it does is spin on the right side?? :sing

Go to the left side of the bike......that is where the nut is. :fact

Take it off and pull the rod all the way out and put it back through the otherway that way the threaded end of the bolt is on the right side and you have something to mount to. :thumbup

Thanks Bogie! :blush Didn't realise it went the entire way through the engine. :)

So I pull the entire rod out and then re-insert it from the other side eh?
Going to give that a whirl right now!

:thumbup
Thanks.

How about a nice pictorial write up so that others (me) can give the illusion later how smart we are when it comes to a rearset install?:workout

Are these the Set's with the Floating Shifter ? (not connected to peg)
and is this Through or outside the Frame.(Shift rod) ?

I didnt take a pic of the gear side though.

Yes it has a floating shifter, the rod is on the outside of the frame, however it sits infront of it because it's floating.

It doesnt actually go to the rearset... Make sense?

I can post a pic in the morning if you want one...?

The way they Adjust is Amazing, Way nicer than all those Holes to choose from!

I Like those alot! Nice Choice!

The last track day I did on my old 00 I took my wife with a video camera along so I could get something to remember my bike by; didn't want to be one of those guys that no one believes, I wanted footage to prove I could ride.

She spent the entire day filming the wrong bike :/ The guy was fast though :mock
