My lovely girl got me this jacket for Christmas...

but it seems a size too big so I will be exchanging it.
I was looking into some other jackets also and wanted your opinion.
A*'s RC1

and A*'s SMK

The icon motorhead is easily the most comfortable when standing (off the bike) but going a size smaller felt like it might be a bit stretched in a riding position across the back. Both A*'s jackets were a bit uncomfy standing but are obviously geared more toward riding position, but i havent worn them riding so can't really comment. I like the collars on the A*'s and the icon seems to have better ventilation. All 3 jackets seem like they are top notch quality.
So which of the 3 do I go with?

Also what do you guys think about the hump on the back of the RC1? Good or just in the way if you not a motoGP rider?

I like the looks of the Icon better even though the A* is probably the better jacket. I also think you should get the Icon cuz you're woman picked it out for you. By switching she'll probly feel bad and the Icon is a sweet jacket anyway.

I just bought an AS RC-1, don't forget (like I did, bought it online) that it has a hump! Can't carry a backpack with it... :P

I've had Dainese, Astars, Kushitani & now RS Taichi and my favorites are RS Taichi & Kushitani. The Dainese are over priced when you consider the others and there comparable quality. My Kushitani is like butter now but its also over priced IMO, the RS Taichi is my favorite for both quality, fit and its current pricing. My Astars never broke in right and I hate there sleeve closures :yes

My jackets-

1. Antique Dainese Black 2pc
2. Kushitani Dragon (sold)
3. Kushitani Victory Race
4 & 5. RS Taichi Viper Evo

The hump on the RS Taichi has never bothered me, but I never ride with a back pack either, and mine has extra venting in the hump for air down the back :yes

I sport a JR reactor 2.0 for the streets and a a* 1 piece for the track. In your case I'd concider your girls feelings in what she picked out for you, especially if its a jacket for the streets. You'll want to be comfortable while wearing it on and off the bike. Get a second jacket or 1 pc suit down the road if your looking at doing aggressive riding or track.

Thanks for the replies. I'm really not leaning toward one over another at all yet so any more opinions would be great!

Also any more input on if the hump gets in the way much?

I think that you should get another Icon jacket just for the simple fact that your gf bought you one...I have an ICON crest jacket which is based off the motorhead platform. another jacket you may want to look into would be the leather Icon ti-maxx...I have one of these as well, damn near $1200 in just street jackets:lol

I'm kinda in agreement with riley 42 BUT if you think she wouldn't care I'd go for the A*'s RC-1. Tried one on, a little big, but man was it comfortable :mrgreen

It finally dawned on me. :shots If I had a spare few :dolla:dolla and was looking for a jacket that did it all I would go with this

http://www.rs-taichi.com/main/indextop.html

Not sure if this model has the hump or not but if it does they have others VERY similar that don't/

after having all the others I've learned the hard way, you can't beat the quality, fit, options & performance of RS Taichi, they are a better value for the dollar than the higher priced competitors :bow
