Does anyone have a suggestion on what throttle lock will work on my 06 R1? I've put on 20k on my bike in the last 6 months and the wrist is getting a little sore.
Thanks all,
Ride safe, wear the gear(has saved my life) and watch out for the squids out there :moped

Throttlemeister (http://www.throttlemeister.com/tm.html) is supposed to be a nice setup. I am on the edge of ordering it myself.

I tried using the VistaCruise without much luck. I know a few other members love it, but I couldn't get mine adjusted the way I wanted it.
Ended up taking a tip from a few BWM riders. They recomended using a CAT o-ring (Catepillar Part # is: 8M-5226). Slips on your bar end and hold the throttle when needed.

If you don't go for a full-out throttle lock, try a throttle rocker. I picked one up for like $10 at a local shop. I've been using one for the last couple years now and like it a lot.

Anyone ever have any close calls using the throttle locks or the rocker? I have never tried one...the idea of them makes me nervous.

To be honest, I share a bit of your nervousness. That's why I opted for the rocker instead of the lock. If I take my hand off the throttle, it returns to closed....but I can just sit there with my hand resting on the throttle with my fingers wide open and hand totally relaxed, but still be able to adjust the throttle by moving my hand a little. I can't take my hand completely off the throttle, but that's the price I pay for my paranoia I guess.
Personally, I haven't had any close calls due to the rocker. I do take it off when I'm doing aggressive riding, though, because I shift my hand around on the grip a lot and I don't want to enter a situation where it gets in the way for some stupid reason....especially not when I'm in the middle of a turn and needing to concentrate on other things.
I did a lot of investigation on throttle locks prior to my ride across the country last year. I settled on the Throttlemiester because it seemed to be the best option I could find. Over the course of the trip I determined that it was not a good long-term solution. It allowed me to rest my wrists for a few precious seconds, but it kept coming loose no matter what I tried. There is good news though. Along the way I ran into some guys who had a throttle lock like I had never seen before. It used a ratchet system and as a result it *never* worked its way loose, and was extremely easy to override quickly. I don't have the name of it but I'll make a couple of phone calls and post the info.

I will verify this is the one I saw in use.

I'd be interested in hearing from someone that has used this one. The details on the website were a little vague, but it looks like its got potential. Nice find.

I have used the o-ring used to commute from portland "OR to Seattle WA twice a week on her, and it saved my wrists and back... i didnt have a close call with it but it was nice becuase i could take my hands off of the bars withought slowing...and stretch for a while.... oooo man that feels good after that much freeway riding, anyways, i took it off when i was going into the twisties there is too much room for error with that thing sliding into the side of the throttle and locking it open.... works awesome though for something so cheap. hope it helps man!!:yes
