Forum Structure?

As you can see I shot from the hip on the forum structure and setup... I'm a YAHAMA guy at heart and love most things with the Tuning fork on them.

If you have some ideas on changes please feel free to post them up and we will make changes as needed.

It's the members that make these forums so great, so if you have an idea, please feel free to share it.

if the sled section grows a bunch I'll need to split it up into a bunch of subforums, I imagine it'll be the same with most other forums here aswell. We're not there yet tho, just something to keep in mind for the future.

I dont know if I would sweat breaking it down to much yet. Its growing fast but still relatively small. Break it down to much and everyone will be in there own forum talking to them selves or you will end up with tight nit groups developing in certain areas and that can deter newbs from partaking in the conversations. Just my .02, give it a month or so before getting crazy on sub-forums.

I think it needs to grow a little first and then see what is needed, I agree Kevin.

As for area section... most of them fail due to lack of posting. When and if this new section is created, I say we leave it all one and name the threads with the areas. After a month or so then we see where the activity is and create sub forums as needed for those active areas.

Probably wouldn't want to do anything too granular like going down to a state-by-state level for US regions...just do broader geographic areas, maybe kinda like this forum has their regional section (http://www.sportbikes.net/forums/regional/) grouped (without the per-state sub-forums like they do).

Meh. All I go there for anymore is the Iowa section, and sometimes the FZ6 forum, and I've been going there long before it was taken over...back when it was all Fred's show. :old

The ads in annoying spots (middle of threads) do go away once you log in though, so it's not as annoying as it could be. :mrgreen

Anyway, why is the time on top right under my name, private msgs, etc alright, while ALL the posts are an hour behind. When i set it to -5 (like normal eastern time) and it goes an hour LATER when i set it to -4. But never the right one in posts.. :dunno

The one in the upper right is Javascript, which is based on your own computer's displayed time. The post times are displayed based on the server's time and your timezone settings you have set in your usercp.
