next bike i think maybe is a k7 GSXR1000,not really out of choice but maybe should buy one for work purposes...(parts etc)

Does your Beater tank have the dual endurance fills? Has the new radiator solved the heat issue?

cheers!the 900 is very trick and light(and sounds mean)but now the bikes are a bit over the top and i would love a stock bike so i can enjoy riding instead of worrying of parts falling off etc!
the 1000 has the dual fillers
like to sell the reserviors(they are made by my good friend at ladybird)but maybe difficult i think.
Ron the stock rad is perfect!temp never gets above 104 now and ive wired a switch so can control it(cant use with the HRC ecu so i had to hardwire a switch in)

i hear the new 1000RR is a great bike, but looks like a hyena
I probably will get a K7-8 GSXR1000(i have an awsome beater tank thats been polished and will get a heat magic swingarm)kind of for work purposes, but if i would buy a 08 R6 today. That bike is amazing
at the Red baron down the road they have all the latest sportsbikes.theres a big difference in quality between the suzuki and the R6(and also i believe the K7-8 is worse than the K5-6 GSXR in build quality..)

working with suzukis every day the k7-k8 are over engineered crap, you cant even bump up the idle with out a lap top and sds, suzuki diagnostic system, i have never been a big fan of suzuki build quality and I have owned a couple of them, the other brand we sell is honda its like comparing a mercedes to a hyundai, yamaha is right up there quality wise they are just built better. the k5-k6 gsxr had some chincy qualitys about but i would take one over a k7 in a heartbeat, a well set up k5 is as good if not better than a k7. the gsxrs over the years were beasts, the 01 came out and was a monster, they changed it in 03 and it was even better so to speak, 05 came over and made the 03 look like a joke, then came the 07 and instead of a step foward it was a step sideways in way wasn't really any better than last years but hey this is just my .02

One time I took the bike off the rear stand in a hurry and forgot to put the side stand down (dumbass, I know). Couldn't stop it going down but luckily just laid it down on the carpet that it was on so no damage. Always have side stand down now :)

Ok I ordered some mods, and I spent tonight putting some of them on.

Put the Sato rearsets on. I haven't got on and fitted them yet, and I haven't attached the brake light switch, but they are on till I can get some time to adjust them.

Put on my Motovation swing arm spools, and Motovation bar ends as well.

Motovation frame sliders will go on sometime this weekend. :thumbup

So far total mods are;
Sato rearsets, Motovation Frame Sliders (not installed yet), Motovation bar ends, Motovation swingarm spools,-1 Driven 520 Sprocket kit with Gold EK MVXZ chain, Gregg's mirror block offs/Gregg's flushmount turnsignals/Graves Ti Cat-Elim Slip on/Graves fender elim/Dynojet PCIII/Pazzo Shorty Levers/Driven Grips/Clear Alternatives integrated tail light/Puig windscreen/GYTR Rear Cowl/DIY CCFL Blue angel eyes.

Ok bike is super dirty, and it's in my garage at 4am so the pics suck, but here they are

Oh ya front sprocket cover isn't on in the photos either but it's probably going back on cuz I can't figure out what to do with the wires and hoses. Any info on that?

Edit gotta put the rear cowl back on and get rid of those damn rear pegs for the pics too.

The thread lock doesn't dry right away, so if you need to loosen it up, it doesn't harden immediately making you reapply it.

My comment was more towards the non-adjustable mounting parts such as frame slider bolts, caliper mounting bolts, etc. The adjustable aspect of the rearsets you can do without while you're finding the best position. Just be sure to check the bolts before you go out every time.

riley42
07-18-2008, 11:54 AM
I gotcha, Haven't done the frame sliders yet tho, and I'll put those on with threadlock. And I actually threadlocked the mounting bolts for the rearsets but none of the factory bolts or adjustable bolts because I haven't had time to adjust them at all, and I know I don't like the current set up.

eveR1ast
07-19-2008, 03:05 AM
It looks sweet :thumbup But I gotta comment (and dont take it as criticism) I almost wish the rearsets were matte instead of gloss. Just looking at them against the frame and swingarm they standout as quite a bit more glossy than everything else. But no doubt they still look good bro ;)

syncitizen
07-19-2008, 08:11 AM
Looks great!!!
If your gonna keep standard shift I'd put the sprocket cover back on. If you switch to GP shift you can still use the cover but you'll have to notch it for linkage clearance. As for thread lock, I'd still use it if your not going to be changing the adjustments immediately. I lost a bolt off of mine that was factory installed and ended up losing function of my rear brakes all together. Definitely gave me some pucker when I went to slow down in the pits at a TD and had no brakes. Thread locker is cheap and it's not glue, so its no biggie if you lock em then have to remove the bolt the next day to make an adjustment.

My.02

riley42
07-19-2008, 11:03 AM
Ya the gloss definitely stands out there but I also used the flash instead of a tripod. If you check out Bogies pics from the rearset thread you can get a better idea of what it looks like.

I've been working wierd hours so I haven't had any time to ride that's why I haven't been in a rush to thread lock everything. If I was going to ride it I'd lock everything down first.

Syn did you brace your engine when you installed the motivation frame sliders?

fjorn
07-19-2008, 01:37 PM
No bracing necessary when installing the sliders. Just do them one at a time and you'll be fine.

Yamaha Forum : Your Yamaha Motor Products Community & Resource - FAQ (http://www.yamaha-forum.net/forum/faq.php?s=&do=search&q=attachments&match=all&titlesonly=0)

How do I attach a file to a post?
To attach a file to your post, you need to be using the main 'New Post' or 'New Thread' page and not 'Quick Reply'. To use the main 'New Post' page, click the 'Post Reply' button in the relevant thread.
On this page, below the message box, you will find a button labelled 'Manage Attachments'. Clicking this button will open a new window for uploading attachments. You can upload an attachment either from your computer or from another URL by using the appropriate box on this page. Alternatively you can click the Attachment Icon to open this page.
To upload a file from your computer, click the 'Browse' button and locate the file. To upload a file from another URL, enter the full URL for the file in the second box on this page. Once you have completed one of the boxes, click 'Upload'.
Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window. You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.
What files types can I use? How large can attachments be?
In the attachment window you will find a list of the allowed file types and their maximum sizes. Files that are larger than these sizes will be rejected. There may also be an overall quota limit to the number of attachments you can post to the board.
How do I add an image to a post?
If you have uploaded an image as an attachment, you can click the arrow next to the 'Attachment Icon' and select it from the list. This will be inserted into your post and can be located where you want it displayed.
To include an image that is not uploaded as an attachment and is located on another website, you can do so by copying the full URL to the image, (not the page on which the image is located), and either pressing the 'Insert Image' icon or by typing before the URL and after it, ensuring that you do not have any spaces before or after the URL of the image. You can insert pictures from your albums (?) (http://www.yamaha-forum.net/forum/faq.php?faq=vb3_user_profile#faq_vb3_albums) in this way too.

Thought I saw 02/03? Will have to look again. I bought a set of circular cut (I'm with ya, don't like the petal cut) Black center rotors for the '07. Chad either warped them with his riding style, or they might have been slightly bent when he went down. :dunno

Pricing is so good, I might order a spare set to have on hand. Need to get some SBS double cintered pads (what Alth recommends on these rotors IIRC).

I didn't know you had an 07 R1?

It's GAWarrior's from over on R1-F. His family wound up raffling it off because of some problems trying to sell it to various people and either falling through, or being scammed. One of the two tickets I bought was the winning ticket. So, I drove down to Atlanta the first weekend in August to pick it up. Got a chance to ride MX in the red clay down there. About 3,000 mile round trip once you add in a couple of stops.

Kind of bitter sweet. It's cool to have won a WERA race prepped R1. But, between that or having Chad still be alive and riding it, I'd rather see Chad here.

ok so someone said I needed more CF on the bike, here's the latest addition (free sample) from Japan :yahoo

also swapped the heel plates on my rearsets and the lifters on my chain adjusters for Ti ano for more of an endurance look, and break up the black & add some contrast to the swingarm area :smoke
